DGP’s son granted anticipatory bail

Himachal Pradesh High Court today granted anticipatory bail to Amil Manahas, son of former DGP D.S. Manhas who is presently the Chairman of Albeit Educational and Welfare Trust, Lower Una in a matter pertaining to submitting forged documents to get affiliation from Himachal Pradesh University.

Justice Rajiv Sharma passed these order on a petition filed by the applicant. While granting bail, it was made clear by the court that petitioner will join the investigation as and when required by the investigating officer. It was also clarified by the court that if the petitioner misuses his liberty or violates any of the conditions imposed upon him, the investigating agency should be free to move the court for cancellation of the bail.

For alleged cheating, the Shimla police on the complaint of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) registered a case against the nursing college in Una, run by former Director General of Police (DGP) D.S Manhas’s son.

Himachal Pradesh University has alleged that the nursing college run by Albeit Education and Welfare Trust, headed by former DGP’s son allegedly submitted forged documents to get the affiliation from Himachal Pradesh University. On acomplaint of the Registrar of Himachal Pradesh University Mr.Pankaj Lalit, police has registered a case under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465 (Punishment for forgery), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
