Moderate intensity earthquake in Himachal Pradesh

Moderate Intensity Earthquake jolted the hill state and its bordering states this afternoon forcing people to run out of their homes and offices, which lasted for three minutes.

The earthquake was experienced at Shimla and most of its nearby areas. The intensity of earthquake was about 7.7 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was reported on Hindu Kush mountain ranges.

The tremors were followed by disruption in power supply however no loss of life and property has been reported from anywhere.

The Indian Meteorological Department said that it was declared of great magnitude that measured about 7.7 on Richter scale at latitude of 36.5 degree North and longitude of 70.8 degrees East and 190 kilometers deep in Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.

Report arriving here have said that it was felt in every part of the state however no loss of life and property are reported from anywhere in the state.
