High Court summons Additional Chief Secretary Health,
Himachal Pradesh today summoned Additional Health Secretary Mr. Vineet Chaudhary about non-functional of nephrological equipments due to lack of trained staff at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla.

Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Mr. Mansor Ahmad Mir and Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan ordered the Health Secretary to be present in the court on next date of hearing, which is on 17th November 2015 as bench was not satisfied with status report filed earlier by the state.

The court has taken a suo-moto notice on a news item that appeared in a vernacular press on 15th June 2015 about non functional of a dialysis-providing machine CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy). The unit was being used during emergency service when patients in coma developed kidney and nephrological dysfunctions. However it could not be used for more than two years due to lack technical staff in the hospital.

The court had asked the state to file a new status report by rejecting the earlier status report. The state has submitted in the affidavit that staff could not be appointed as state public service commission had been asked to fill up the posts but as no one applied for the vacant posts.
