Congress commemorates Rajiv Gandhi’s 71st birth anniversary

The Congress commemorated former and Late Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi’s 71st birth anniversary after offering floral tributes on his statute at Choota Shimla near the state secretariat here today.

Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh offered floral tribute in front of massive statute of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and he was joined by Social Justice and Women Empowerment Minister Mr. D.R.Shandil and Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Mr.Nand Lal, Mr.Rohit Thakur and Mr. Inderdutt Lakhan Pal. Among these members Deputy Mayor Tekinder Panwar and Deputy Commissioner of Shimla Mr. Dinesh Malhotra were the prominent among those present on this occasion.

The Day was celebrated as a harmony day and oath to work for peace administrated to all present on this occasion. A tribute function was also held at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan the state headquarters where floral tributes were also offered on Rajiv Gandhi portrait by the state Congress President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other party workers.

Being the seventh Prime Minister of India Mr. Gandhi was also known for his stint envisioning for three tire Panchayat Raj System, modernization and computerization of educational institutions and revolution in information technology.
