Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mr. BBL Butail said that the fate of four associate members would be decided very soon as it may be before the monsoon session of the house, which is beginning on 21st August.

The four associate MLAs –Mr. Manohar Dhiman (Indora)  Mr. Pawan Kajal (Kangra), Mr. Kirnesh Jang (Paonta Sahib) and Mr. Balbir Verma (Chopal)  who were elected independently in the state assembly elections in 2012, later pledged their allegiance to the ruling Congress  government.

“I would decide the matter concerning these four MLAs very soon, weighing all aspects fairly and impartially most likely before the coming monsoon session” said BBL Butail, the Speaker of Himachal Pradesh assembly.

Himachal BJP had urged the assembly speaker last year to disqualify the four independent MLAs under the anti-defection law for their association with the Congress.

“We have filed a petition before the Himachal Pradesh assembly speaker BBL Butail and have sought disqualifications of independent MLAs – Manohar Dhiman (Indora)  Pawan Kajal (Kangra), Kirnesh Jang (Paonta Sahib) and Balbir Verma (Chopal)  under the 10th schedule of Indian constitution. We hope the decision will come very soon as it is already too late” as quoted by a senior BJP leader.

The time frame of the case is expected to end soon as the speaker now is taking this decision, which may go against these party members who have a given an unconditional support to Mr. Virbhadra Singh’s government inside and outside the state.
