Three killed in Amb mishap

Shimla: Three persons were killed and 47 others injured when a truck carrying devotees from Dera Baba Bhadbhag Singh shrine in Mairi village of Una district turned turtle near Amb today. The devotees were returning to their native village Jahangir in Tarn Taran district of Punjab.

It is learnt that the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp curve. While two of the deceased have been identified as Rekha (20) and Vikas (16), the third victim, a male child, could not be identified. Those injured have been admitted to the Amb primary health centre and Una district hospital. The devotees had gone to pay obeisance at the Dera Baba Bhadbhag Singh shrine during the annual Hola Mohalla.

Deputy commissioner KR Bharti announced an immediate relief amount of Rs 5,000 each to the kin of the deceased and to the seriously injured patients. He said relief amounts ranging from Rs 1,000 to 3,000 were being distributed to the less seriously injured patients.
