Girl burnt alive in Baddi fire

Solan: A three-year-old girl was burnt alive when a devastating fire broke out in a slum gutting dozens of huntsman within few minutes at Malkumajra in the industrial township of Baddi this afternoon. Police source said the fire broke out in a crowded slum inhabited by migrant labourers, most of from UP and Bihar. The victim, identified as Rakhi, was daughter of Roop Chand belonging to Uttar Pradesh, who is working as a labour in a factory. Fire Officer Sukhdev told HamVani that two fire engines were pressed into fire-combating operation and brought the fire under control in about two hours and thus saved many other hutments from the flames. About 12 families living in the gutted slum have been rendered homeless.
