Good Parenting workshop organized at CUHP

The Department of Teacher Education, Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), organized a one-day workshop on ‘Good Parenting’ on March 14, 2015. Dr. Manoj Kumar Saxena, Dean, School of Education, and the Workshop Convener, welcomed the resource persons and audience, and presented a token of respect to Prof. Y.S. Verma, Vice Chancellor, CUHP. Assistant Prof. Ms. Renu Bhandari gave an opening vote of thanks.

“Children close their ears to advice, but open their eyes to example,” remarked Prof. Verma during the inaugural session on ‘Some Reflections on Good Parenting’.

“To make a good citizen,” participants responded to the question of ‘a parents’ expectations from their child’, posed by Prof. Verma. After a quick tea-break, Prof. D.P. Asija, Director, Education, Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU), Ambala, threw light upon the ‘Success of Human Race’ and it’s relation to good parenting values. Next up was a talk on ‘Child Care’ by Dr. Sunil Bhatt, Pediatric, Regional Hospital, Dharamshala.

A lunch-break ensued, after which a dialogue on ‘Parenting for Developing Children with a National Outlook: Issues and Challenges’ was delivered by Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean, Education, GNDU, Amritsar. Following an evening tea-break, Dr. Saxena welcomed the chief guest of the valedictory session, Swami Gangeshanand Ji, who highlighted the significance of ‘Value of Spirituality for Nurturing Kids’.

Participants – staff, parents and students – were presented with a memento and ‘Certificate of Participation’. Ms. Bhandari concluded the workshop with a vote of thanks.
