Sirmour to get polytechnic college

Sirmour would soon have a Polytechnic college – likely to be in Nahan, taking the number of polytehnic colleges to seven in the state.  This was announced by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh during the inaugural function of the three-day Renukaji Fair, yesterday.

The government is also looking to encourage institutes affiliated to international universities in the private sector.

State government would encourage opening of universities affiliated to international universities, which would be encouraged to introduce new courses and bring in new learning in medical, IT, BT, engineering, and other vocational streams. At the same time, caution would be taken not to allow opening up of “teaching-shops”.

According to the annual ‘State of the State’ survey by a aleading magazine, India Today, Himachal Pradesh has been rated as number 1 in education.

The Chief Minister also announced to upgrade about 110 schools in the district.
