Weather update: Many roads still closed for traffic

Shimla: Inclement weather conditions prevailing throughout the day put life out of gear in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, while three more casualties were reported as an avalanche hit a village in Pangi.

While connectivity to Manali was restored partially, heavy snowfall, early 1.5 feet, virtually kept the town isolated. Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti, registered 3 feet of snowfall with temperature of minus 12.8 degree Celsius followed by minus 11 degree C at Kalpa. Udaipur in Lahaul registered 5.6 feet snow, Keylong 3.6 feet and Kaza three feet snowfall during last 24 hours.

Bhuntar recorded a temperature of one degree C, Palampur was low at two degree Celsius, Sundernagar 2.2 degree C, Dharamshala 2.5 degree C, Shimla three degree C, Una 3.4 degree C, Mandi five degree C and Nahan 7.6
degree C.

Sky was partly cloudy in the morning giving some relief to people from insistent spell of snow and rain for the last five days. After improvement in the weather, snow clearing works was in progress throughout the day today, Report from Manali said that blocked road at Patlikhul was restored for traffic this morning, however the traffic on Hindustan-Tibet National Highway No 22 remained suspended as it was still blocked at Narkanda and Chora but the traffic from Kufri was opened to Narkanda after clearing snow on the road. The road traffic to Rampur was diverted via Basantpur to Rampur on February 7. Rohru remained isolated for the third day today as more than three foot snow accumulated at Kharapather, while Rampur-Rohru road is blocked at Sungri. Traffic to Rohru has been diverted via Vikasnagar in Nahan.
