Shyam Benegal films to be screened at Gaiety Theatre from October 23 to 25. The ‘Festival of films’ will screen five feature films:
Oct 23: Manthan starring Smita Patil and Girish Karnad at 4.30 p.m.
Oct 24: Bhumika starring Smita Patil and Amol Palekar at 4th at 12.30 afternoon.
Junoon starring Shashi Kapoor and Nafisa Ali at 5.30 p.m.
Oct 25: Mandi starring Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi at 12.30 p.m.
Zubaida starring Karishma Kapoor and Manoj Bajpai at 5.30 p.m.
Great ! I remember wanting to join him as an asstt. while he was making Dharamveer Bharti's(Ed of Dharamyug) Sooraj ka satwan ghoda – he asked how good i was at Hindi over a cutting chai to which i replied If Railway Stn. is 'Lohpath gamini vishram dham then…!? this is a great news about this film festival. two years back, i took the initiative and talked to the PR Department in shilmla. I also screened my film in their office. but couldn't make anything out of it. this time it happened, i'm happy for this. and i believe that this festival is a start for the development in cinema in himachal. but still i fear that govt will become idle an they wot take any step further.
but the start of pahari cinema is very important for the development of pahari culture and literature. I hope we'll make this soon.
