Shimla: Campaigning for the last phase of Lok Sabha elections here at the Ridge, UPA president Sonia Gandhi put up a brave front defending the Congress-led government and its policies. She criticized the BJP government in Himachal Pradesh for deriving political benefit out of Centre-sponsored schemes and at the same time accusing UPA government of partial behaviour.

She said that it was the UPA government that allotted Rs 23,000 crore to Himachal in the last five years, while during the NDA rule the state received only Rs 13,000 crore. She also touches upon local issues like termination of the services of PTA teacher, stating that the state government was not doing justice to these teachers.

Sonia also enumerated Central schemes like NREGA and the loan weavers for farmers, which she claimed had been of great help in helping the poor.
