District administration concerns over quality of meat products

Indicating towards taking strong action against violators, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Mr. Dinesh Malhotra has expressed concern over quality of meat and poultry items being sold in the district.

Addressing a coordination committee meeting of Health and Animal Husbandry and Municipal Corporation Shimla officials here today Mr. Malhotra ordered to ensure quality poultry and other meats products to the consumers after adopting ‘zero tolerance’ for any sale of stale and polluted products in the market. The administration would shortlist some places in the town to strengthen the infrastructure for pre-mortem and post-mortem quality of animal stocks so that vigil could be keep a check on safe supply of these products to consumers.

To encourage the improved quality of food products under food processing mission scheme the state government offers 50 per cent credit or maximum loan worth Rupees 5 lakh to stakeholders for buying ‘career-vans’ or loan of Rupees 5 crore or 50 per cent credits to set up cold chain.Along with an effective implementation it would help in providing of self-employment avenues to them and also work on improved hygiene and quality service to the consumers.
