Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today accused Himachal Pradesh Congress government by alleging that there seems to no rule of law in the state as forest, liquor and mine mafias are now governing it.

Mr. Dhumal who was attending the party protest against the forest mafia at Surgani under Dalhousie forest rage and Bhanjradu under Churaha range at Chamba district said “anti-social elements were allowed to exercise their full authority under the patronage of Virbhadra Singh rule. Forest Mafia is given free hand to do away with dense forest as reports of massive green felling were reported recently from many places”.

He also said “the protest were held to end the prevailing rule of forest mafia as number of green trees were axed recently in the state and the matter had raised in the state assembly by BJP legislators in recent winter session. Massive forest was cleared at Taradevi in the outskirt of the capital town but other incidences of forest felling have taken place in Mandi and Sirmaur districts under Mr. Singh’s rule.It seems that Forest Mafia, Liquor and Mine mafia is being protected by Mr.Singh who were openly indulging in the crime, however the state shows no action to curb them”.

BJP and Youth Congress scuffle at the former party office recently has also posed a question mark over the state government to handle law and order situation in Himachal Pradesh.
