Mansoor Ahmad Mir elevates to Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court

The Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir will take oath of the Office of the Chief Justice of the High Court Himachal Pradesh on June 18 at 1700 hours in the Raj bhawan.

He will be administered the oath of Office by the Governor Mrs. Urmila Singh. He had took over as the Acting Chief Justice of High Court on November 27, 2013.

Justice Mir hails from village Rajpora in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir. Born on April 25, 1955, His Lordship did L.L.B in 1978 and joined Bar in the same year and practiced till 1993. He appeared in Higher Judicial Services examination in the year 1992 and secured first position in the state. He was appointed as Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kupwara on 27th May, 1993. He also remained Principal District & Sessions Judge of Anantnag, Budgam and Srinagar. He was also posted as Presiding Officer, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Srinagar and the designated court of TADA and Special Judge, POTA for Kashmir Division.

Justice Mir was sworn-in as additional Judge of the High Court on January 31′.2005 and elevated as permanent Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on July 07, 2007. Delivered landmark judgments in all branches of the law and decided 37000 cases from January 31, 2005 to November 24, 2013.

Honored with the award of ‘American Medal of Honor’ in 2004 by the “The American Biographical Institute Board of International Research” for his meritorious service to entire community and outstanding professional achievements. In the short stint as Acting Chief Justice, he decided 4134 cases (3928 in Division Bench and 206 in Single Bench).
