Dharamsala: Himachal Pradesh may have missed a golden opportunity to be under international spotlight with the second edition of IPL being shifted to South Africa, but the state cricket association is said to be ready with plans for another eye-catching extravaganza. Though not involving star cricketers, a new 20-Twenty tournament to be hosted by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association will feature local teams at village and town level, who will then compete for the crown carrying a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.

The format of the game is said to have been prepared by BCCL itself to promote cricket at the grassroot level. The tournament is scheduled to kick-start on May 3 with entries open till April 26. The final match will be held under flood-lights at the Dharamsala cricket stadium.

SPCA has called a meeting of all district associations to discuss modalities of the tournament on Thursday.
