Three assaulted by sharp edged weapons at Ridge : Shimla

Three youth including a CBI inspector were assaulted with sharp edged weapons by four reported members of the drug mafia at crowded Rigde near the Catholic Church in Shimla town at 1800 hours yesterday. The accused have absconded from the site after the crime.

The victims were identified as Rakesh Thakur (23), Udit Chauhan (19) and a 31 years old CBI inspector whose name has not yet been confirmed. The last reported, grievously injured had been rushed to IGMC hospital. Two of the injured were the members of the Chopal cultural association, who lodged protest outside DC office, against the free rein of drug cartels responsible for drug addiction in the town yesterday.

The police launched hunt to nab the accused who are considered from the gang of the drug mafia in the town.

The incident also caused panic among the people, moreover, the incident violates Section 140, as the Ridge falls in sensitive zone.
