229 education institutions upgraded in Himachal

As many as 229 education institutions have been upgraded in this hill state including 107 middle, 55 high and 67 senior secondary schools.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who also holds the portfolio of education stated in the assembly during question hour.

Mr. Singh said that after taking power, Congress government had opened about nine degree colleges and 65 primary schools.

12 primary schools have been opened up in Chamba district, 14 in Shimla, 13 in Mandi and 22 in Sirmaur district.

Primary school upgraded to middle school includes 10 each of Chamba and Kangra district, 3 of Kinnaur, 8 of Kullu, 14 of Mandi 29 of Shimla and 33 of Sirmaur district.

Similarly 55 middle schools were upgraded to high schools and 67 high to senior secondary schools.

Government opened nine degree colleges at Nagrota Suriyana, Ladbhadol, Sandhol, Dharampur, Diggal, Sarahan, Nankhari and Kumersen.
