Himachal traces 62 bogus pensioners

Himachal Pradesh government has traced out 62 bogus pensioners in last three years who were rendering benefit of social security pension scheme depriving the others.

This was stated by social justice and woman empowerment minister Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil while replying a query raised by Ajay Mahajan of Congress (Nurpur).

He said that the department traced out 10 fake pensioners in the year 2011, 43 in 2012 and 9 in 2013. He said that some government officials have also been caught while many of the ineligible persons belonged to high income strata. He said that all of them belonged to the Nurpur area and their pensions have been stopped.

Minister said that the government also increased the income criteria from Rs.15000 to Rs.35000 so that additional people could be brought under its ambit.

Col. Shandil said that the department would investigate the complaints where wrong income certificate were furnished by the patwari to help ineligible to get under this scheme.

Mr. Maheshwar Singh of HLP alleged that the patwari (local revenue officer) was issuing wrong income certificates which forced a number of eligible persons out of this scheme.
