Opposition stages walkout in HP assembly for consecutive third day

Opposition BJP in the state assembly staged out walkout from house for third consecutive day today as Speaker did not allow the leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal to speak.

As the house converged for third day of this budget session for question hours today, BJP members pointed out that they want ruling of chair on their notice of breach of privilege brought against Chief Minister for allegedly mentioning BJP legislators ‘bounded labour of particular family’ outside the house in the media recently.

Speaker B.B.L. Butail said that two separate notice of breach of privilege were received by Secretary Vidhan Sabha from opposition as well as from ruling members on which he would give ruling latter but this did not relent the opposition.

As Jairam Thakur of BJP said that leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal want to speak over the prevailing stalemate in the house but it was not allowed by the chair asking them to take question hours first.

This agitated the opposition and they starting shouting slogans against the government and Chief Minister, particular after 30 minutes entire opposition staged walk out from the house. As it was third walkout of opposition in three days of budget session.

Speaking over the opposition protest, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh sought ruling over chair about alleged remarks made against him in the house. He said that opposition want to intimidate the entire proceeding by adopting such attitude, which should not be allowed. He said that by means of disruption BJP members want to bring sub judice matter on the record which should be expunged.

Transport Minister G.S. Bali, and Parliamentary Minister Mukesh Agnihotri demanded that speaker should call the agitating opposition members for talk to smoothly run the house and end the stalemate.

Asha Kumari of Congress demanded suspension of all BJP members for disrupting proceeding and defying the direction of chair. Nand Lal of Congress also condemn the attitude of opposition stating that they should not allow to make such behavior in the house.

Maheshwar Singh of HLP said that question hour is being disrupted daily which should be allowed to run smoothly by the BJP legislative party. In absence of opposition Congress member Asha Kumari and Vidya Stokes participated in discussion on thanks motion to Governor address moved by Sanjay Rattan of Jawalamukhi yesterday.

The Congress members also moved another privilege notice this morning today before the secretary Vidhan Sabha for breach of privilege by opposition member to wear apron in the house despite it was not allowed by the chair.

Speaker had also convened meeting with chief whips of BJP to end the stalemate yesterday but it failed to yield any progress.
