SFI condemns hike of fee by HPU

Left wing student union, SFI today condemned hike of 25 percent in the fee by Himachal Pradesh University alleging that it would commercialize higher education beside depriving weaker sections to avail it.

Speaking in a press conference at Shimla today SFI district general secretary Chanderkant Verma alleged that in the name of ‘vision-2020’, HPU vice chancellor A.D.N. Bajpai had imposed 25 percent hike of fee in the state.

They would lodge state wide protest if hike would not withdraw soon alleging that this decision would not only burden them by heavy expenditure on higher education but also discourage weaker sections to enroll  in the elite institutions.

Successive BJP and Congress rules in the state are promoting commercialization of education, SFI leader alleged that education had been converted to costly commodity being provided on the basis of money power rather than talent and ability of an individual.

Mr. Verma alleged that after taking charge of HPU, Mr. Bajpai had given hike of 10 percent, forced to withdraw latter.

Alleging that vice chancellor is working on the behest of state government as he had imposed new sytem of education ‘RUSA’ on them.

Implementation of ‘RUSA’ had been caused number of problems to the students as it was brought in hurry after replacing established old system. He also accused the authority for also imposing extra expenses on them by means of new system.

SFI warned the authority that it will lodge protest rally of students in this district if it would not withdraw soon.

  1. Stand on gate of HPU and check every student if one student is found having mobile phone cheaper than 2000 take back fee hike other wise Go ahead .
