Couple burnt alive in devastating fire in HP

Two persons including a woman were burnt alive as devastating fire broke out, gutting two wooden buildings comprising of 12 rooms in a village which fall under Theog subdivision of Shimla district early this morning, rendering four families homeless in extreme weather, fire sources confirmed.

66 years old Hira Singh and his wife Rama Dai (60) of village Shaleen, post office Shaddi of Theog sub-division of this district, today were burnt alive in the fire, which broke out in three storey wooden house at 0430 hours this morning.

District Fire Officer D.D. Sharma told that one fire engine was pressed to douse down the inferno, and took about six hours to control the flames.

He said that fire caused estimated loss of properties worth Rs. 15 lakh as fire gutted down three storey house.

The fire broke out from a fire places spread inside the entire building from room in which deceased were sleeping. It reduced about eight rooms, two bathrooms and one kitchen of first three victims which within short while turned to ashes including the entire belonging.

The survivors could only save some cattle’s after braving infernos. In line with the fire, another single storey house of victim, Rakesh also came under the spat of flames as four rooms one each having a bathroom and kitchen, rendering the fourth family homeless.

The fire tenders saved third house after controlling fire at 1230 hours today.

The local team of administration comprising of SDM visited the spot and handed over the financial assistance to the victims families, along with some blankets and ration and also made them shift to safer places. The fire officers recovered the charred body from the heap of embers.
