Shimla Bar Association abstain cases protesting over shifting of courts

Lawyers belonged to Shimla district Bar Association today abstained cases protesting over shifting of circuit courts to other parts of district alleging that the decision had made without pre-consultation with them.

President of Shimla Bar Association today did not attended the cases in district courts here at Chakker as they were protesting against shifting of circuit courts to Sunni and other parts of district.

The lawyers also organized a meeting in the bar room this morning to decide next course of action as similar protests were being held by several district bars associations including Kangra, Hamirpur, Mandi, Chamba and Sirmaur.

To form a joint front of all protesting lawyers on state level a meeting was convened shortly to form the action committee to built up pressures on the administration.

Vice President of District Bar Association Vikram Jeet Singh told that Dharamshala district bar burnt the effigy of Himachal high court Chief Justice A.M.  Khanwilkar at Kachehri chowk near Deputy Commissioner office yesterday, boycotting the administrative decisions as circuit courts were being shifted to Palampur, Nurpur, Dehra, Baijnath, Indora, Jawali and Kangra in the district.

Recently bar association also passed a resolution to oppose this decision as it would cause confusion and hampering of their works. He said that they also abstained in Dharamshala today.

There are reports of protest over this decisions by the respective bars in the state.
