Nine died one injured in an accident; Lahaul and Spiti

As many as nine killed and one injured as jeep carrying them fell down near Rohali area of Udaipur in Lahaul and Spiti district as bodies were recovered this morning, senior district administration officer told.

Deputy Commissioner Lahaul and Spiti Bir Singh Thakur told that nine bodies have been retrieved three kilometers away from Rohali as tata sumo jeep carrying ten people hailed from Thumb village of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir fell down in rivulet.

On the complaint of local people who traced the ill-fated vehicles and deceased along the down stream at the site of accident informed police which rushed to the site early this morning.

The deceased were reportedly returning after paying obeisance at historic Triloki Nath and Trikula Mata shrines here last evening. Due to remote site police got information of mishap early this morning, DC said.

Deceased include four each men and women and one child. Only one child survived in the mishap who was rushed to nearby Udaipur hospital and was reported critical. Police identified deceased eight member of family of deceased Sher Singh of Thumb village and one driver of Kishtwar district of J&K.

Accident site was three kilometers away from Rohali of Udaipur subdivision. Deputy Commissioner said that injured could not reveal more as he was felling unconscious. Udaipur district is connected with Pangi subdivision of Chamba district with road from where people also travel to J&K. Another road with J&K is also connected from Keylong to Leh in the district.
