Chipping in from 9,500 ft in the foot hills of Himalayas… Narkanda. It’s been raining here like cats and dogs and had a light snowfall in the evening… Please pardon my slurr… thanks to three servings of Ol’ Monk… hic… the permissible quota from my high command… like a dutiful husband, have to obey the wishes of THE dear wifey…

Anyway… coming to the topic… had been reading the interesting debate on Anuj — the Indian Idol-2 contender (on Him-Vani) for long and found nothing wrong with Rachna’s observations… also found nothing wrong with the Sharmas, Vermas and other’s views.. Pardon the slurr… again!

I live at a place where there is no satellite television available… Mercifully to the Gods above… I do get Red FM and they do a capsule on the Indian Idol-2, once a week… I heard our hero Anuj when he came back and sung the “Bachna eiy Hasino…” and….

Sorry for going off the topic… Hell… I love listening to Radio Mirchi… but I don’t receive the reception here… Radio City… I get sometime when I trek to almost a km from my home… Hope the Mirchi gal here on board can do something about it….

Coming back to the topic… after hearing the song on FM, I was not very enthuastic by our hero’s chances in the competition… and I neither sent a vote in his favor nor to any other guy… I usually listened to the later episodes while working on my Bullet – 350 and THE wifey who somehow has got a fascination for the machine too chipped in and that’s how a mini war broke up in the household.

The wifey became a full fledged fan of Anuj and started sending SMSs like crazy from my Airtel phone…. Every evening at dinner we had fiery fights ’bout merits of our boy Anuj… Sorry mate… nothing personal against you but invented so many drawbacks ’bout your singing on the dinner table… and finally THE wifey started serving me uncooked meals, meals with triple the salt… and I was left to feed myself with my culinary skills… truly she was at her menacing best… Mate you owe me a decent dinner, once you come back!!!

Recently, I was visiting in-laws at Shimla and had a chance to view Anuj’s preformance at Ahmedabad… (my ol’ hometown) and man was I impressed….!! Sure I was… The fellow has a great stage personality… I mean the way he sang “Dil le gayi kuri gujarat di” with gutso… great job mate… and I am now surely mending ways with wifey… and getting better meals… I do not now hide my cellphone from my wife… Man you are a winning material…

I come from the same school from where Mr. Anupam Kher passed out… 15 years earlier I did!! I did sit on a table in my last year at school with Anupam Kher engraved on it… How I wish it was done by the man himself… Anuj do us proud…

Of late have accepted a nomad’s life.. here is one pic from Malling Nalla in Spiti.. where rocks fell regularly from the cliff while crossing and is extremely dangerous as it can fell right on your head… Hats off to the BRO guys who have been working there… Here is the pic from 38 TF, BRO on there take at the deadly experince at Malling…

Off lately, congratulations to the Jung couple (Samresh Jung and Anuja Jung) and Vijay Kumar for bringing Himachalis in the limelight (winning Golds at the Commonwealth). Wonderful performances…
