Lalita Kanwar confers with CBSE national award

Bringing laurels to the institution and making the entire city proud, Mrs. Lalita Kanwar, principal of La Montessori Public School (LMS) has been awarded with CBSE National Award by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at a function organised in IIC (India International Centre), Lodi Estate New Delhi on 4th September.

The award was given to Mrs. Lalita Kanwar by the Union Minister of Human Resource and Development (HRD), Dr. M. M. Pallam Raju in the presence of minister of state for HRD, Jitin Prasada and Shashi Tharoor along with the chairman of CBSE, Vineet Joshi and secretary MHRD, Bhattacharya and Chairman of CBSE Mr. Vineet Joshi. Mrs. Lalita Kanwar started her teaching career as a teacher in the year 1988 and in 25 years of her teaching career, she influenced and motivated many of her students. She took the post of principal at LMS in the year 1995 and since then LMS has never looked back under her able administration.

Her exemplary service  in the field of education has brought about a teaching revolution in the valley bringing along a whole array of technological and methodical changes. Her feat lies in her contribution towards restructuring and remodeling of the conventional teaching and learning mechanisms. Having successfully incorporated technology, she has single handed trans-mutated the modernistic academic and holistic approach for students.

Futuristic approach, being one of her forté enabled her to effortlessly embrace new curriculum based challenges, changing values, social structure and community demands and thereby being actively involved directly with the students, teachers and also the parents. In spite of the “first generation” learners and having minimal available resources, her dedication is evident in the alumni records of the school, told chairman of the institution.

Being a strong believer of global learning, she has successfully brought international exposure to the rural school in the form of student and teacher exchanges, he added. Having held a number of positions in numerous CBSE organized events, Mrs. Lalita Kanwar is currently the President of Himachal Sahodaya Complex.

Principal said that she felt honored as the receiver of such a prestigious award. This award works as a great motivating factor. According to her, this recognition re-instates the faith she has on her own systems and simultaneously, puts her in a more responsible position. She credited her award to the joint efforts of students, the entire staff of the institution, parents and the management. She told that the modern innovations in education system that she had adopted had triggered a massive improvement inculcating the growth of the institution and helped the children to join the mainstream and become confident citizens.

Mr. Ripudaman Singh Kanwar, Chairman of La Montessori Schools was thankful to the CBSE authorities for acknowledging the efforts of such an able Principal, despite her belonging to an outlying village school. He was also thankful to the Governor and Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh whose interest and attention in the sector of education could make this feat possible.
