Leopard Panic: Two leopards gun down as they killed three people in HP

Two leopards have been gun down by the sharp shooters in the state as three people had been killed including a women. Two others got injured in five separate assaults, forcing the wild life authority to declare both leopards as man eaters in last one month in Seeraj Assembly segment facing the panic of leopards.

This was stated by Forest Minister, Thakur Singh Bharmouri, in a written reply to a query raised by Jai Ram Thakur (Seeraj-BJP) in the assembly yesterday.

Minister informed that the leopards made assault on July 18, 12 & 24 and August 10 & 12, 2013 in which three people were killed and two others were injured.

After declaring the leopards man eater, department constituted committee on July 25, 2013 to take immediate step. Efforts have been done to nabbed the beast. Meanwhile 15 cameras and five cage traps have been laid at various places where they had caused loss of life. Three teams were constituted comprising of Officers and employees of wild life department.

To gun down the violent leopard, another team comprising of Sharp-shooter Ashish Gupta, resident of Parwanoo of district Solan and local shooters was formed which roamed in the effected area from July 26 to August 1, 2013 but did not get major success.
