Cheif Minister and Governor expresses grief over bus accident

Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over the HRTC bus accident in which 9 persons have been killed and 54 were injured. The bus was on its way from Shimla to Pehlog of Chopal area. The mishap took place at Nakora Bridge (Dhawas) on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the next of kin of the deceased and ensure best treatment to the injured, besides financial assistance to them. He wished speedy recovery of the injured and peace to the departed souls.

Transport Minister Shri G.S. Bali while expressing grief over the bus mishap, ordered magisterial inquiry into the cause of the bus accident. He also directed the Director Transport to release Rs. one lakh as ex-Gratia relief to the kin of the deceased.

Free ambulance service would be provided to the injured to be shifted to IGMC, Shimla and other hospitals.

An immediate relief of Rs. 10,000 had been given to the kin of the deceased by local administration, said Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Chopal.

He said that team of doctors were rushed to the accident site along with police and home guard jawans to provide first aid to the injured and to monitor relief and rescue operations.

Irrigation and Public Health Minister Smt. Vidya Stokes, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Power Minister Sujan Singh Pathania, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Industrial Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma, Excise and Taxation Minister Shri Prakash Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister (Retd.) Col. Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Anil Sharma and all chief parliamentary secretaries have also expressed grief over the bus accident.
