SBT Kerala wins All India ONGC Football trophy

State Bank of Trivandrum (SBT), Kerala won ONGC’s All India Championship football at Padal ground, Mandi yesterday.

Amid light drizzle in the final SBT, Kerala beat Gujarat Rajkot XI 2-0 clinching the trophy of the competition.

Usman and Shiv Lal of SBT scored two goals in the first half in the 28th and 33rd minute of the match, respectively.

Rajkot XI in the second half of the match put in their best, but could not bring the team back into the game again.

In women’s event, the exhibition match was played between Haryana and Punjab. Haryana won by 3-0. Haryana’s Kavita scored two goals while Galle Munesh scored third.

Himachal Pradesh Football Association (HPFA) president Amit Pal Singh honored the participant distributing sports kit. He said football would be piped into the rural areas to urban areas. He said the HPFA would attempt to host Junior Football World Cup in 2017.
