Shimla: In continuance with its new service oriented avatar, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has decided to fit heating coils on all four sides of its buses.

This experiment would first be implemented in areas that see extremely cold conditions during greater part of the year, like Kinnaur, Lahual and Spiti and some areas of Chamba like Bharmour and Pangi.

These heating coils would help in keeping the bus warm while it moves and the apparatus would use up one per cent of the total petrol burnt per kilometres.

As the bus starts, the coils would get heated within half hour. Managing Director of HRTC, TC Janartha said, “Further implementation of the scheme would depend upon success of its initial implementation in cold areas of the state.”
