High reaches experiencing snowfall

As temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in the plains of north India, Himachal Pradesh’s higher reaches are still continued with fresh spells of snow.

An official of the meteorological office said that a fresh western disturbance is likely to be active again in the western Himalayas from May 10, bringing more rain and thundershowers.

Rohtang Pass which is 52 km from Manali, is experiencing mild spell of snow since Sunday, the Met office said. Last week the pass was reopened for motorists after the winter snow was cleared.

Keylong, saw a low of 1.5 degrees and 3 cm snow. The day’s temperature settled at 11.9 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, located at a height of 7,000 feet above sea level, recorded its high temperature as 25.1 degrees Celsius, while the night temperature was 15.6 degrees.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded its high tempertaure as 35.3 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature in Manali was 19.8 degrees Celsius, Dharamshala was at 28.6 degrees Celsius and Kalpa was pleasant at 15.8 degrees Celsius whereas, their minimum temperatures were recorded as 17.5 degrees, 8 degrees, 16.4 degrees and 5.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
