Himachal Pradesh cabinet meeting held in Shimla yesterday decided to re-launch and replace name of much popular BJP regime Atal uniform scheme which was started during last budget session of BJP rule.

A state government spokesman said that cabinet decided to continue with the free school uniform scheme and renamed it as ‘Mahatma Gandhi Vardi Yojna’.  It also constituted a committee under the chairmanship of additional chief secretary for finalization of purchasing cloth, specification, design, color, handling charges  etc.

Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal presented Atal uniform in his last budget speech after giving two set of uniforms free to all the students studying in government schools and also announced free school bags and dictionary in its party manifesto for 2012 assembly elections.

Within two days, it was second BJP scheme which was renamed and re-launched by Congress after resuming to power. Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur had yesterday also decided to re-launch and rename Atal 108 ambulance scheme after deleting Atal word for National 108 ambulance scheme citing reason that its funds were sponsored by the UPA government at New Delhi.

BJP was criticizing the Congress for hijacking the popularity and denigrating the stalwart figure like Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. BJP also targeting the Congress to name government scheme and institution on the Nehru Gandhi family for sake of politics while it was trying to tarnish the dignified image of BJP reputed leader who sacrificed his entire life for the cause of nation.
