Within 24 hours of businessman’s murder, who was shot dead at broad day light by some assailants at Mehatpur in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, the police unveiled the case by claiming that deceased became victim of contract killing. Five accused assailants along with king pin have been arrested by the police.
S.P. Una, Mr. Ravinder Sharma said that deceased Vinod Jain reportedly became victim of alleged contract killing arranged by his partner Pradeep Gupta who was allegedly found out as king pin in the murder and both belonged to Punjab.
Police official said that Mr. Gupta who was looking after the oil mills had offered contract amount of Rs. 2 lakh to eliminate his partner after paying advance of Rs. 40 thousand to Anil Kumar alias Sethu, local resident of Bahdala area of Una district and hatched the conspiracy .
During police rounding up of factory, manager revealed the crime and subsequently, police arrested Pradeep Gupta who is 24 years old, resident of Phagwahra (Punjab), Anil Kumar alias Sethu, age 28 a resident of Bahdala, Rajeev of 20 years, resident Dehaila, Sunil Kumar alias Charna, age 20 resident of Rakkar colony and Arun Kumar, age 21, resident of Bathu, who all hailed from Himachal.
On police investigation after arrest of assailants, one local made pistol, two live cartridges and motorcycle (HP 20C-2713) used in the crime was also recovered from their possession. The assailants before turning out at crime site also tested air fire in the forests three times. Investigation also revealed that Mr. Gupta hatched this conspiracy as latter was seeking accounts about Rs. 20 lakh in the factory.
The police would present the five accused in the court today to seek identification parade of assailants.
