Holding ODI at Dharamsala, a dream come true: HPCA president

HPCA President Mr. Anurag Thakur said that it was his cherished dream to hold a One Day International match between India and England on one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums of the world here.

The Sunday ODI at Dharamshala was a result of consistent efforts made by HPCA and supported by the BCCI, he informed, adding that both teams had arrived here. Cricket lovers from all over the state as well as from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir were arriving here to witness the match, which would be housefull, he claimed. In reply to a question, he said those who had enjoyed a match once at this stadium, had been repeatedly coming here. Efforts would be made to hold IPL, ODI and test matches in this stadium in future also, the HPCA president hopes.

He said star players like Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar were eager to play matches in this stadium but unfortunately they could not make it, both Indian and England players were impressed by the beauty of this stadium. He described it as unfortunate that media had created a furore that Dharamshala may witness heavy snowfall and the match might get cancelled. Both teams were enjoying the beautiful weather here, Mr Thakur claimed, adding that players were satisfied with the arrangements made here by the HPCA. The Indian team practiced here yesterday, whereas the England team enjoyed sight seeing yesterday and practiced today, he added.
