Rs 65 Lakh cash seized during election monitoring raids

Addressing media conference at Solan, Chief Electoral officer Ms. Mira Mohanty said that during the election process in the district currency notes of Rs 65 lakh denominations were recovered, during the number of raids conducted by the flying squad and police nakka at various routes in the district.

She said that 10 cases were also registered under various sections of excise and taxation act to keep the tab over corrupt practices to allure the voters. She said all entry points along the bordering states have been sealed so that no anti-social element disrupt the election process in the district and to check free flow of illicit liquor to the state after setting ‘nakka’ at the key points along the porous borders.

She also said that 17 complaints were received in violations of election code and conduct and out of which 12 had been disposed off and 2480 personnel have been deployed to ensure free and fair poll.

  1. I was carrying 2.5 Lakh for my Factory Expense and my cash of 2.5Lakh was seized at Paonta Sahib Barrier
    whereas it has come to my notice that  the “Election Commission’s order, to seize cash is beyond Rs 2.5 lakh in transit”
    and  was told to me that I cannot carry more than 20,000 only
