350 vehicles challaned during New Year celebrations in Shimla

Shimla Police had to face a hard time on the New year celebrations and aftermath as it had challaned as many as 350 vehicles under Motor Vehicle Act besides four road accidents in which one person died and many others sustained injuries in Shimla town. The Shimla police Chief Ms Somiya Sambasiban said in a press statement that during 24 hours as many as 350 vehicles were challaned under MV Act and police compounded fine from 105 people realizing 37,800 rupees penality meanwhile, the police nabbed about six persons for smoking at public places who were challaned under Smoking Act & fine collecting 600 rupees on the spot from them.

She said that a case of a fire has been reported under police station Dhali in the outskirts of capital town lodging FIR under section 285 of IPC. She said that owner of car Balbir Singh resident of Una complained that his car that was parked near Community Hall Dhalli was set on fire by some miscreants about 0300 hrs this morning and dashboard and bonnet of the vehicle were damaged. The case is being investigated.

A car carrying four people rolled down near Summerhill under police station Bioleaganj last night and the case of rash and negligent driving was registered against Udit. No casualty occurred in the mishap as the occupants got minor injuries. Another accident occurred on Taradevi Totu bypass road last night under police station Bioleaganj sustaining injuries to two persons in which case of rash driving was registered against Driver Satvinder. A Maruti car hit Suryansh garment shop at Sunni Bazar last night sustaining injuries to driver Nelu and another occupant Harish, a case of negligent and rash driving has been lodged against the driver.

Another case of negligent and rash driving was registered against the deceased Rohit Azad when a vehicle met with the accident due to rash driving near Chol Kenchi last night in which died on the spot under police station Kotkhai, of this district. Seven bottles of illicit country liquor were recovered from the shop of Mahinder Singh resident of Panjog area of Moshobra during a police raid under police station Dhali. The owner of the shop was booked under section 39(1) of HP Excise Act.
