Opening its bounty to the member of the Assembly and former legislators, Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) decided
to offer free journey to Member of Legislative Assembly and Ex-MLA who could enjoy 12 free journey in its high end Volvo buses in addition to free travel in normal fleet. This was announced by Transport Minister Mr. G.S.Bali while interacting media persons today. “We decided to give 12 free journey to MLAs and Ex-MLAs in side and outside the state in Volvo services who could claim free travel in a
year and once in a month.” Mr. Bali announced.

HRTC is already offering free travel to MLA and Ex-MLA in its normal fleet and they could travel in Volvo services without paying for the ticket. Mr. Bali who earlier attended HRTC meeting said that more than 400 Temporary Multi-purpose Assistants (TMA) who were drawing wages of Rs 4000 per month would get enhanced wages of Rs 5500 pm giving hike of Rs 1500 in their wages.

He said that TMA who are mostly serving as conductors in HRTC buses would now get one percent commission in local route that of half percent earlier. Transport Minister also disclosed that more than 700 contract drivers who are drawing Rs 7200 pm wages would get enhanced wages of Rs 7700 pm thereby giving hike of about Rs 500 per month. He also said that HRTC would also give increment of Rs one hundred per annum to contract drivers. HRTC was running nearly 3500 buses fleet in and outside the State and it was highest fleet by any public transport in the Country.

However most of the routes of HRTC were running in heavy loss as it could not able to compete with the fast faced and smart private transporters in the State. Due to financial mismanagement HRTC were facing constraints as the retired employees were getting delayed pension by more than two months.
