The 3rd edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) will be held this year from 30 October to 2 November, 2014. Another initiative taken by DIFF this year is the DIFF Film Fellows programme.

As part of DIFF’s vision to promote independent filmmaking in the Himalayan regions, the first DIFF Film Fellows programme is targeted specifically at young up-and-coming filmmakers from the Indian Himalayan regions.

As part of the programme five filmmakers will be selected to attend DIFF 2014 and participate in its various events, including screenings of the best of contemporary independent cinema, and masterclasses and workshops held by visiting filmmakers and industry professionals. The selected participants will also have the opportunity to engage in special one-on-one mentorship sessions with visiting filmmakers. The programme will cover train fares, food and lodging for the selected participants for the duration of the festival.

DIFF Film Fellows is open to anyone from one of the following regions: Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the hill regions of West Bengal and Assam.

The deadline for applying to the programme is 31 August 2014.
