High reaches of HP experience another spell of snowfall

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced snowfall and light spell of rain lashed downstreams increasing intense cold wave in the state.

The Met. office recorded 8 cm snowfall at Kalpa in Kinnaur district. Report of snowfall pouring from high reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu and Chamba distirct as it was cloudy in the entire tribal belt.

Saluni in Chamba distirct recorded 13 mm rainfall, Nagrota Suriyan in Kangra district 8 mm, Baijnath, Rohru in Shimla district, Bajaura in Kullu district and Udaipur in Lahaul and Spiti district 5 mm each. Chamba, Dalhousie, Kukumseri and Nadaun also witnessed rainfall.

Fresh snowfall on high reaches increased cold-wave as Keylong was low at minus 12 degrees in Lahaul and Spiti district, Kalpa minus 6 degrees, Manali minus 3 degrees, Solan 0.5 degrees and Shimla 0.4 degrees.

Bhuntar in Kullu district and Sundernagar 1 degrees each, Hamirpur, Chamba and Nahan 3 degrees each, Una 2 degrees, Kangra 4 degrees, Dharamshala and Bilaspur 5 degrees.

The Met. office warned of heavy snowfall at isolated places over mid and high hills of the state on 8th and 9th January, 2014.
