The second Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) is to be held at Mcleodganj from today till 27th October, 2013.

The film festival is presented through White Crane Arts & Media Trust, which is a non-profit organisation.

A highlight of this year’s festival is the international premiere of Jennifer Baichwal and Edward Burtynsky’s much acclaimed new film, ‘Watermark’, with co-director Jennifer Baichwal in attendance.

An exciting feature of DIFF 2013 is a selection of art films in collaboration with Vienna-based Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary Foundation (TBA21). These films, made by leading contemporary international artists, are rarely seen outside the gallery space and their presence at DIFF represents a unique collaboration and an opportunity to view them in one place. Francesca von Habsburg, founder of TBA21 is expected to be at DIFF to present these films.

Another sidebar will showcase the best of recent short films from India, curated by noted Indian filmmaker Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni.

A number of acclaimed Indian and international filmmakers and industry professionals are expected to attend the festival and interact with the audience through Q&A sessions, panel discussions and film making masterclasses. The names include : Jacek Borcuch (Lasting), Nishtha Jain (Gulabi Gang), Nitin Kakkar ( Filmistaan), Avijit Mukul Kishore (To Let the World In), Nagraj manjule (Fandry), Guneet Monga (The Lunchbox), Maximon Monihan (La Voz De Los Silenciados), Sylvia Wilczynski (The Rocket), Anand Patwardhan (Jai Bhim Comrade), Sange Dorjee Thongdok (Crossing Bridges), Amit Virmani (Menstrual man), Prasanna Vithanage (With You Without You) and Ramon Zurcher (The Strange Little Cat).
