Theft in local deity shrine in Himachal Pradesh

Local deity shrine at Durgapur under Shimla district was plundered by some miscreants as they resorted Rs. 9 lakhs theft last night. The case has been lodged under police station Dhali.

S.P. Shimla Abhishek Dular said that the golden, silver and precious metal jewelry was stolen over night which has an estimated market value of Rs. 9 lakhs at the Nananal Deity temple near Durgapur.

He said that 80 grams golden foils, 8 kgs silver ornaments, 2 kgs silver stick, a silver bud and garland, 3 kgs each copper base, 3 kgs bronze, money and other items were found missing from the temple.

The police is clueless in the current crime. The police also visited the shrines and clocked the evidences from the temple complex and  have been fanning in the areas to nab the accused. The police came to know about the theft when the temple care taker informed about it.

Police has registered a case against unknown. District police foiled an international racket in similar shrine theft at Bandra Deity temple in Rohru recently after arresting three men in Rs. 1 crore theft and killing of temple watchman.
