IIAS to hold four day national seminar on literature

Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, is holding a four-day National seminar on “Waves in Silent Pool: Literature of the Modern Indian Languages”, from 11 – 14 August 2013.

The keynote address will be given by Professor U. R. Ananathamurthy on 11 August at 1900 hours. Rajvinder Singh, National Fellow of the Institute is coordinating the seminar. The seminar composes debates on fundamental questions such as dominant literary politics in India, problems that Modern Indian languages (MIL’s) face at the global level, role of the translators/translations in prominent MIL’s.

About twenty-five eminent and emerging writers, literary scholars, translators, publishers and cultural administrators are participating in this seminar. They include the names of Professor U. R. Ananthamurthy, Prof. Sitanshu Yashaschandra, Dr. Mausumi Kandali, Prof. Chandershekhar Kambhar, Dr. Gagan Gill, Prof. Rana Nayar, Dr. Rakhshanda Jalil, Ms. Sangeeta Barua Pisharoti , Roopinder Singh and Arun Maheshwari.
