Threat of avalanches loaming in Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnuar districts; Fresh snowfall on high reaches.

Threat of avalanches were still loaming in Kullu, Shimla, Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnuar district, as Snow Avalanches Study Establishment (SASE) Manali, has cautioned the people living along the snow lines to beware of  avalanches after resuming of clear weather.

Moreover high reaches of Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnuar districts were getting fresh snowfall in the state last evening however weather was mainly dry and sunny in rest of the state giving much respite to people as mercury come up marginally, reducing cold wave in the snowbound areas.

Deputy Commisioner of Kinnuar said that district administration is dealing with the loss caused by number of avalanches triggered in the district during last two days, reported massive damage to life and property but there is no fresh news of avalanche in the district.

The Kinner and Shirkhand Kailesh ranges in Kinnuar district reported fresh spell of snowfall last evening as it was overcast there yesterday. Report received from Lahaul & Spiti district said that high reaches of Keylong like Lady of Keylong, Seven Sister’s hills, Goshal hills and Rohtang Pass had light spell of snow as weather was also cloudy and met office had forecast rain or snow in few parts of the district.

Night temperature show marginal improvisation in the state as Keylong was minus 17 degrees on Tuesday which was recorded minus 13.7 degrees Celsius yesterday. Similarly, Manali was low at minus 6 degrees for successive three days after rain or snow, was recorded minus 4.6 degrees yesterday. Saluni in Chamba district was 1.5 degrees yesterday which registered gain of 6 degrees in last 24 hours. The capital town was stationary at 1.6 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu was minus 0.1 degrees, Solan 0.2 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi 1 degrees, Una and Palampur in Kangra district were at 3 degrees each and Dharamshala and Nahan at 4.5 degrees each.

The Met office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours.
