High reaches of Himachal experiences a fresh spell of snowfall

The high reaches of Lahaul & Spiti, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba and Kinnuar districts experienced fresh spell of snowfall, increasing cold wave in the state as it was overcast in the state.

Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti had 15 cm snowfall, Kokasar 18 cm, Udaipur 9 cm, Kaza 8 cm, Baralacha and Jot in Chamba districts, Dhauladhar ranges of Kangra and Rohtang Pass of Kullu recorded 1 to 2 feet snowfall. Light to mild snowfall was also seen in Shrikhand and Kinnuar Kailash ranges of Kinnuar district.

The weather was cloudy to partly cloudy in few parts and mainly dry in the rest of the state. The cold wind was blowing in the entire state after snowfall in the high reaches. Keylong was coldest in the state today with minus 6.7 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur 0 degrees and Nahan 1.8 degrees, Manali 2 degrees, Solan 3 degrees, Mandi 4 degrees, Bhuntar 4.7 degrees, Sundernagar 5.5 degrees, Shimla 6 degrees, Palampur and Una 7 degrees each, and Dharamshala 8 degrees.

The Met office forecast rain or snowfall at few parts in the high reaches and rain or thundershower at isolated parts in middle and the plains during next 24 hours.
