Seven dead and many injured in separate bus accidents in Mandi district

Seven people died and about six people were seriously injured, when two buses fell down gorges at two separate places in Mandi district yesterday morning.

SP Mandi Mr. Abhishek Dular told the media persons that five persons died on the spot when a HRTC bus fell 500 feet down the road at 0945 hrs while enroute to Roddidhar from Tatapani. Deceased included driver Mohan Lal and conductor Satpal and three others. At the time of accident only five were on the board. Large number of casualties were averted as most of passengers got down one km ahead of spot. The accident occurred due to mechanical failure as steering did not work.

In an other accident at Kuchali Nalah. a private bus on the way to Mandi from Kulthani at 0830 hours fell down 50 feet deep gourge, killing two on the spot and injuring six seriously. At the time of accident 70 people were on the board and most of them got minor bruises.

The injured have been rushed to Thunag Primary Health Centre and District Hospital Mandi. The causality may rise and deceased were yet to identified, official added.
