Heavy rain keeps mercury down in Himachal

Shimla (Aug 8): Widespread rainfall was witnessed across Himachal Pradesh today, especially in Kangra district, pushing down the mercury by two to three degree
during last 24 hours, the Met offical said here today.

In Kangra district, Baijnath got 156 mm rain, Palampur 91 mm, Dehra Gopipur 89 mm, Dharmshala 73 mm, Guler 62 mm and Nurpur 33 mm. Jogindernagar in Mandi 94 mm, Mandi town 36 and Pandoh 31 mm respectively. Ghamroor in Bilaspur 85 mm and Bharwain 52 mm, Banjar in Kullu 58 mm, Bhuntar 41 mm and Seobagh 26 mm, Rohru of Shimla, Shimla town 32 mm and Kotkhai 25 and Theog 18 mm, Nadaun of Hamirpur 54 mm, Hamirpur town 50 mm and Sujanpur tera 18 mm. Amb in Una 39 mm and Bangana 36 mm each, Rajgarh in Sirmour 22 mm, Nahan 21 mm, Kalpa in Kinuar & Kandaghat in Solan 20 mm each, Solan
and Keylong in Lahaul Spiti 10 mm each.

Minimum tempterture at Dharamshala, Kalpa and Keylong was 13 degree Celsius each, Shimla 16.7 degrees, Bhuntar 17.8 degrees, Palampur 18.7degrees, Solan 19.5 degrees, Sundernagar and Mandi 20 degrees each, Una and Nahan 23 degrees each respectively.

The Met Office forecast rain or thundershowers in many places in middle and foot hills and few parts in high reaches of Himachal Pradesh during next 24 hours.
