Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Unit of Bhartiya Janata Party on Friday in its crucial meeting expelled the Lok Sabha member Rajan Sushant from its state executive and has recommended his expulsion (to the Central Parliamentary Board) from the primary membership of the party on the grounds of indiscipline. Rajan Sushant is touring the entire state and creating awareness amongst the people on the issues of corruption and nepotism prevailing in the party.

Addressing a large audience on Wednesday Rajan Sushant opposed the BJP government’s decision of privatising higher education and opening excess universities and private colleges in the state. Meanwhile, the state BJP General Secretary Chandra Mohan Thakur in a press conference today countered Rajan Sushant’s allegations against party and its top leadership by saying that latter is overtly playing in the hands of opposition Congress.

Rajan Sushant was expelled from the party in 1985 and 1996 for similar allegations of breaching party discipline and condemning senior leaders. The party leaders on Friday pledged that “If he is expelled by the high command now he would never be taken back in the BJP again”. On being asked if the central leadership is under pressure for not expelling him since it is itself supporting the anti corruption movements of Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, Mohan Thakur said that Sushant had never taken part in any of the protests staged by the party against corruption and is only interested in belittling and humiliating the BJP, which had made him the party Loksabha MP and a cabinet minister in the past.
