Kaul Singh accuses 3 ministers of colluding with land mafia

Shimla (May 14): Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Kaul Singh Thakur today greeted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for forming Congress coalition governments in three states, while he termed that BJP was rejected by the people as it could not managed to get more than four seats and even not open its account in some states in the recent assembly elections.

Lodging a scathing attack on the state BJP government, Thakur told media persons here today that it was snarled ‘neck deep’ in corruption as the ruling party’s own MP has come out on the streets leveling serious charges of corruption against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his cabinet colleagues.

Thakur observed that such serious charges could not be brushed aside as they were being leveled by BJP’s own MP. Equating alleged corruption charges against the state government with Karnataka Chief Minister YS Yedurappa and Punjab BJP-Akali government, where many minister have been forced to resign, Congress leader alleged that land mafia, colonizers, and builders in connivance with state ministers were involved in land deals in the state despite strict laws against it.

He claimed that three ministers, including a minister from Solan, were activity involved with land mafia. He said that the Congress demanded compete ban on developing apartments in periphery of Shimla town.

Mr. Thakur disclosed that he has got a letter from Chief Minister Prem
Kumar Dhumal seeking detail about corruption charges being leveled on
his government by Congress leaders. He said that he had replied to
Chief Minister stating that he would shortly present detail of
corruption charges on BJP government with inform of charge sheet
which would be submitted to Himachal Pradesh Governor in future.

Replying to a query about effectiveness of Opposition in the state to
press the corruption issues, Mr Thakur denied the charges being
leveled on Congress acting as weak opposition and said that it was
utilizing each and every platform to raise the issues but state
government was undermine the voice being raised by oppn. which is
undemocratic.

He accepted that some of BJP leaders were also opposing the Dhumal
government in public about corruption and its policy but they could
not insist to deviate the ruling government from the path of
corruption.

Giving figures about land deals being executed during BJP rule in the
state, Mr. Thakur said that as many as one lakh Bega land has been
changed hand in the state while the figure was 7500 hectare years ago
violating and taking relaxation in section 118 to purchase agriculture
land.

Congress leader also charged the government for large scale
reshuffling of Administrative officers which were frequently being
shifted and sidelining the honest officials.

He said that 530 politically motivated cases have been registered on
Congress activists for raising voice against state government and
burning effigy of Mr. Dhumal after booking them in various cases.
Moreover it did not registered a single case on BJP activists who have
been burnt several effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union
Minister Shard pawar and protesting on the road creating traffic jams,
he said.
