ESI to spend Rs 800 Cr in Himachal: Minister

Baddi (May 10): Union labour and employment minister Malika Arjun today said that the Center would spend Rs 800 crore in Himachal Pradesh, which would be used for various ESI-run scheme.

While dedicating the newly constructed Rs-70 crore ESI Hospital for the workers of industrial township of Baddi, Barotiwala and Nalagarh, the Union minister informed that the Center has allocated Rs 730 crore to construct ESI Medical College at Mandi.

ESI covers 1,73,704 employees employed by 3,177 employers and the scheme is benefiting eight lakh beneficiaries. The minister noted that with functioning of this ESI Hospital a dream of workers belonging to BBN areas has been fulfilled.

Director general of ESI C S Kedar said that the new hospital would offer multi-specialty care including medicine, surgery, genealogy and institutional delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, etc. He said that ESI Hospital would impart healthcare facility to ensured persons in BBN industrial area through its indoor, outdoor, emergency and diagnostics services.

ESI Corporation has stared similar hospital all over India where insured workers could get the benefit of upgraded and referral hospital unit. He said that ESI has also singed agreement with others hospital on the cash lays bases
