Unexpected snowfall continues in Kinnaur

Shimla (Apr 27): Unexpected snowfall occurring on the high reaches of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh has pushed down the Mercury as the weather remained pleasant in most parts of the state today.

Attributing few light spells of snowfall on higher reaches of Kinnaur during last couple of days to Western Disturbances, the met office said that border village Chitkul was still snowbound. Similarly high reaches of Bhaba, Shrikhand and Kinnar Kailash ranges were having intermittent snowfall, dragging mercury downward. However, rest of the state was mainly dry during last 24 hours.

Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was cold at 3.6 degree Celsius, followed by Kalpa at 7.9 degrees, Shimla and Solan at 14 degrees
each, Bhuntar in Kullu 15.5, Sundernagar and Dharamshala 16 degrees each, Una 18.3 degrees, Palampur in Kangra and Mandi 17 degrees each, and Nahan of Sirmaur 20.5 degrees respectively.

Maximum temperatures: Shimla 24 degrees, Sundernagar and Mandi 32 degrees each, Bhuntar, Dharamshala and Solan 30 degrees each, Kalpa 23 degrees, Nahan 31 and Una 38 degrees respectively.
